Hara Hara Tokei
[Hara Hara conveys a sense of one‘s heart beating (as one would feel waiting in suspense with a timing device for an explosive).... hara tokei as one‘s internal clock]
The deconstructed blazer is inspired by the anarchistic group called „Anti-Japan armed Front“ and their infamous urban guerrila manual „Hara Hara Tokei“ that I‘ve found in a little bookstore in Shinjuku Ni Chome.
The book deeply moved me and evoked the feeling of helplessness multiple times, making me think about how one can make a change. A change without violence, blood or war. Unlike the japanese armed front and the warfares, genocides and military operations that are currently happening in this world.
The piece tells a story about pragmatic pacifism, social defense and civil disobedience. A motivation to act and to make a change, no matter how small it is, re-thinking our believes and acting instead of watching the world falling apart.
Inspired by the makers, protestors, the symbolism of peace.
